national car

Denmark is divided into 3 regions: Jylland, Fyn and Sjælland. Denmark’s road network is extensive and well maintained, with toll-free motorways. There is a toll between Denmark and Sweden, but from Fyn to Jylland it is free.  An important piece of information for all motorists is that they must drive with headlights on 24 hrs a day.

City Driving

  • Denmark has 4 major cities: Copenhagen, Odense, Aarhus and Aalborg

  • These cities are old with narrow streets where parking can be a challenge and costly

  • Several one way streets also mean that advance planning is necessary when driving in these cities

Country Driving

  • In the countryside, roads are narrow and can often be without dividers between two-way traffic and even without markings

  • It is therefore very important to think ahead when overtaking because traffic can cross over into the oncoming lane
