Travel tips

Many roads in Iceland's sparsely populated countryside are surfaced with loose gravel and must be driven through carefully. These roads are often impassable until midsummer, plus mountain roads are often very winding and vehicles need to be driven with care. But National Car Rental locations hold a large proportion of four wheel drive vehicles to help visitors cope with the more challenging road conditions.
