Driving conditions and local driving culture vary significantly in Oman compared to European countries.

City Driving

• Driving in the city in Oman is usually very busy. Expect traffic congestion on Saturday – Wednesday from 0700 – 0900 hrs and 1300 - 1500 hrs

• Wednesday afternoons are particularly crowded for traffic moving away from the city centre

Country Driving

• Country Driving can be tiring due to the main highways being long and straight

• Off road driving in the desert should not be attempted without attending a training course; or you must be accompanied by an experienced person

• Car Rental companies do not provide insurance cover for off-road driving involving wadi bashing and dune bashing, any damage caused by this would require full payment for repairs
