Qatar rules and regulations

Road rules
  • Vehicles drive on the right hand side of the road
  • Roundabouts are common features on the roads in Qatar and there are very few traffic signals
  • Motorists approaching a roundabout from a two lane carriageway will note that the right lane is meant for turning right and the left lane for continuing straight ahead, turning left or turning back - unless otherwise stated
  • On a three lane carriageway the right lane is for turning right, the middle lane is for going straight ahead and the left lane is for turning left or turning back unless otherwise stated
  • Many roundabouts are fitted with separate slip roads for turning right
  • A car flashing its full beam is generally asking for a chance to pass
  • There is also little use of indicators and little lane discipline
