Switzerland rules and regulations
Road rules
- Vehicles drive on the right hand side of the road
- Dipped headlights are compulsory when in tunnels
- Overtaking is on the left
- When overtaking it is compulsory to signal right before returning to the right hand lane
- Trams should be overtaken on the right unless there is sufficient room
- When waiting at traffic lights in some areas drivers may have to switch off engines
- Pedestrians often have right of way
- Snow chains are compulsory from 1st November until 15th April
- Vehicles must be equipped with a warning triangle which must be used in any breakdown/emergency situation
Driving regulations
- Minimum age for rental:
- 21 years of age
- Rental rates may be higher for renters aged 21-24
- Driving Licence:
- Valid Full Driving Licence
